Today is the day the greatest fighter pilot of all time lost his life. Let us have a moment of reflection for Rittm. Manfred von Richthofen.

Hoch Richthofen

It is interesting to note that this is also a Sunday, April 21.
Maestro: Please have the orchestra play Siegfried's funeral music in honor of der Rittmeister...

What a pity that the man had not survived; I've thought about this long and hard, and I've even known one or two aristocrats - I just cannot picture MvR as a Nazi in the 'new' Germany. More of a Prussian than a German, yes... but I can't see him betraying his ideals, his upbringing, and his heritage...

Ich hatt' einen Kameraden,
Einen bessern findst Du nit.
Die Trommel schlug zum Streite,
Er ging an meiner Seite
Im gleichen Schritt und Tritt.
Im gleichen Schritt und Tritt.

Eine Kugel kam geflogen:
Gilt's mir oder gilt es Dir?
Ihn hat es weggerissen,
Er liegt mir vor den Fussen
Als war's ein Stuck von mir.
Als war's ein Stuck von mir.

Will mir die Hand nicht reichen,
Derweil ich eben lad'.
"Kann Dir die Hand nicht geben,
Bleib Du im ew'gen Leben
Mein guter Kamerad!
Mein guter Kamerad!"

Hoch Richthofen!

I have been waiting for this day for a long time now. The way that I can pay homage was to open a web site that not done yet will have a libary of historic photos of MvR.

Captain Lewis:

I'm kinda glad he didn't survived the war. I think I would have a different opinion of his if he was in Goerings place during WWII. It was Udet that made the final sacerfice becouse it was not the same kind of war. Even Goering who stuggeled with the loss of honor from the good old days.

Have a Great Day All........
Lloyd...
