Hi all,

I have the "official" dates for the Great War Aeroplanes Association air show and the Over the Front seminar to be held in Dayton. *It runs from Friday, September 12th thru Sunday the 14th.

Participants, (not attendees), need to register. *Set up will be on Thursday the 11th. *I am in charge of vendors, so anyone interested in setting up a booth, (product must be WW1 or earlier aviation related), needs to get in contact with me for rates and details. *I am also the Treasurer of GWAA, so I can put interested parties in touch with the correct person if they want to display their WW1 project or fly their WW1 aircraft in the event.

It's free to attend so come one and all!

Best wishes,
Dave W.

Dave,

Any idea who one would contact if one was going to attend the AirShow and OTR Seminar in 2003 if one wanted to participate as a re-enactor as a ground crew member of the German Imperial Airforce one specially requested by on of the leading fighter aces and known "Loop Man" Ross Walton?
Thanks!.........Bob Philios..........

Hi Bob and all,

For all those interested in participating as a re-enactor, Sue Hayes Fisher is in charge of the re-enactors. Her e-mail address is;

survey@historiclandmarks.org

If this doesn't work for some reason, e-mail me directly.

I can't tell you how great of a job these folks do. They are always in proper attire and many sleep on the grounds in tents, and they actually gaurd the aircraft. Last time I provided a group with eight Spandaus, ammo reloader, and many belts to re-enact armourer's servicing the weapons. They also helped to disassemble my Mercedes motor and later reassemble it. We all had a blast!

Next time I have to have a better period outfit. I'm usually found by looking for the guy with a period straw hat and old suit. I have the honor of doing the balloon launch for the balloon busting as well as providing the flour "bombs" for the bombing competition. Otherwise I'll be found around the guns and D.VII project. With a little luck the project will be an aircraft by show time and I'll have to get a pilot's uniform!

Best,
Dave W.

Hey Bob,

Forgot to mention, "Loop Man" Ross will be there. He is presently moving from Vermont to Louisville, Kentucky. That was great when he broke the airfield rules at Dayton and did a loop on his last flight of the last day. The onhand field controller came out and told him he was grounded, and then congratulated him on a great loop!

He may have a rotary in his Dr.I this time around. He purchased a 120 LeRhone, I believe it is a late model J-11, therefore the 120 and not 110. He has been talking about building a Nieuport around it, so we'll see.

Best,
Dave W.

Its about time OTF came back to Dayton! Great venue. It will be a pleasure. I also think that the central location might be a plus for attendance.

I sure hope that I can attend. I can kill two birds with one stone. My ex-wife lives close by. Do you think she will want to see me?

If there are going to be several Forumites attending this event is there a place, date and time where we could meet and say,"Hello!"?

FWIW, I used the term "new" because it's *new* to you.
