The vast majority of my library has always been tactical... personal diaries, and books written from the pilot's standpoint.

I'd like to start reading more things from a strategic POV, and I know Billy Mitchell wrote a couple of books after the war. Does anyone know what the names of those books are, and any publisher's information to help me find them?

Thanks in advance.

I found these in an anthology which includes books about Mitchell.
The "call numbers" refer to the Dewey Decimal System used in all US libraries. (I used to know a librarian named Dewey but that's another matter...)

Mitchell, William. Memoirs of World War I: "From Start to Finish of Our Greatest War." New York, Random House, 1960. 312 p.
Book call no.: 940.44 M682m

Mitchell, William. Our Air Force, the Keystone of National Defense. New York, E. P. Dutton, 1921. 223 p.
Book call no.: 629.13 M69

Mitchell, William. Skyways. Philadelphia, J.B. Lippincott, 1930. 314 p.
Book call no.: 629.13 M69s

Mitchell, William. Winged Defense. New York, G P. Putnam's Sons, 1925. 261 p.
Book call no.: 629.13 M69w

Don't limit yourself to Mitchell. Lots of other BIG view adherents out there. Try Seversky and d'Hulio (Sure I spelled him wrong) and my namesake, Boom Trenchard. The thing that will be fun is you are on "the other side" of their ideas. They wrote before WW II, Korea, Falklands, Vietnam, etc.

cheers, Boom

Thanks guys.

Don't reckon anybody has any second hand copies of Mitchell's books (gotta start somewhere, Boom) that they want to unload real cheap, do ya?

Hi Stephen,

You can find plenty of copies of Mitchell's "Memoirs of World War I" for sale at www.abebooks.com. I just checked, and they have them for sale for anything from $9.50 to $70.00 ! Or you could preview one through interlibrary loan - it's a very common book, published by Random House.

Pick one up - it's a good read.

Greg

Does anyone have any ideer how much WWI content I'll find in Mitchell's "Our Air Force, the Keystone of National Defense," and "Skyways?"
