As Ive come here and gone through all the aces of the particapating nations of the war I was wondering how they chose the aces of who would go in the RB games. Because pilots such as Navarre and a few others I forget ??? I have seen other aces from different nations who have more kills, higher ranks etc..
Could anyone help me on how they made these choices?

Your help is appreciated

I think, they had two main criteria, how many victories did the pilot have, and how well KNOWN was he?

I'm sure the last part was in there, since they have Lanoe Hawker in among the aces, and he only got 7 during his career.

But then, this is only speculation on my part. But I'd be willing to bet I'm not far off.

My Gallery
I cannot speak for the Stock version of the game. But for RB3d I have done 3 unofficial patches. The aces are fully editable. For instance, I recently released "1918 Air War" and it only features aces relative to 1918. I personally selected a number of aces based on defined personal paint and markings identified with the aces, the unit they were assigned to, and the time frame they were around. Aces such as Hantelmann on the German side were not in RB but he was quite important in the closing months of the war; he downed 2 very well known aces both French and US in the space of a few weeks in September alone. In terms of Australia, I have 2 AFC flying their SE5a's in my patch and I have Roy Ceciel Phillips flying his SE5a in his markings to give them an ace in the unit for some more diversity.

About 2 years ago someone did an editor utility program that allows one to plug in appropriate data for aces. It is a big help if you know what you are doing. I hand coded my file well before that editor came out.

With UOP type patches you are only limited by your own desires as to "who" you want to see in the game.

You have to start playing the game early enough that he's still there. Remember, he was KIA in Nov. 1916.

To me, something that is much more fun than trying to catch Lanoe Hawker before he gets killed are killing future aces before they do anything.

For instance, shooting down Manfred von Richtofson when his score is at 12, or shooting down René Fonck when he's notched six victories (see you in Hell, you pompous Frenchman!)

But as you know when the aces have been killed or for that matter all aces they are still in the ace dossiers section. But for all the time Ive been playing it he has never been there.
Also he is not in the Historical Aces section either.
Whats goin on???

Ok, here's a question, are you using ANY UOP(Un Official Patch)??

IF you are, then I think it likely that you're using a UOP that replaced him for some other ace. Probably.

Well the only patch I have got for the RBII is the one from Sierra to stop it cutting out while accpeting to transfer squadrons. So unless that didnt cut him out I wouldnt have a clue what did.

Well, I don't understand it. I see him when I look at the list of aces. He's there in my game. Anyone else see or not see Lanoe Hawker??
