G'day all,

For those researching awards, the following link to the AWM may be of assistance, it only list Australians in Australian forces.

http://www.awm.gov.au/database/honours.asp

Many thanks for the link Andrew. *It appears to be a most worthwhile site that I will be investigating further

Thanks Liz,

I have a few gripes with the AWM, but I do believe that they have one of the most progressive/informative websites for the researcher

Hi Andrew

I have utilised the AWM site on many occasions and have found it very useful.
The link they have on 'Record Search' with the National Archives has helped me many times.

If only they could speed up their times when information is ordered off them.
But that's just my gripe for the day

Cheers

Andrew you hit the nail on the head. I have been waiting since November for some photo's, and I know of others who have waited eons for their orders.

As for the NAA, they are great, on more than one occassion I have ordered material from them and they have sent it gratis.

Hi Andrew

You'll never guess, but as soon as I got home from work yesterday what was waiting for me?
Just the information I ordered from the AWM back in September. Woohoo

I had been previously spoiled by the National Archives in getting information off them and so assumed the AWM would meet those standards.
At least I know in the future to order anything from the AWM five months in advance to when I actually need it.

Cheers
Andrew P

I ordered my Grandfather's records and it has very very detailed information. As far as I know it really does tell you every important event that happened to them during the war, even the part when he was arrested for drunkiness

Yes I agree Archie, the service records have very detailed information, perhaps sometimes to detailed.
A relative of mine got the VD(unfortunately not the VC) after the armistice after a dalliance with a French working girl.
At least he was single at the time and didn't have a wife to come home to explain things to.
'Honey guess what I brought back from the front?' :

As maybe you would know they are not the original copies they are just photocopied. So you could easily photocopy them or maybe scan them.
