Hello Simba!
Please put the photos into the Forum. I´m really curious!
BTW, as far as I know the Belgians have a R.E.8, too. The aircraft is original, it was only modified during WW1 (another engine). I think that these modifications have no effect on the fact that this machine is also a genuine WW1 aircraft.

Simba,
I second (or third, or whatever) the motion to post the pics here (or at least post a link to them here).
Regards,

Here's my vote for putting the RE8 pics up.
I got a copy of "The Battle Below" by H N Wrigley for Christmas. *It is a history of 3AFC who flew RE8s in France from Sep 1917 to Nov 1918. *
(*What a clever wife I have to give me such a rare and interesting book a a gift! *I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I gave it to her to give to me? *??? ) *
She also gave me a copy of "The Clouds Remember" *(* ditto).

Hell! How did I manage to miss this thread?
I believe the Belgian RE8 has a Hispano-Suisa engine installation instead of the normal air-cooled RAF4. In the UK however the SE5 was given priority for the Hisso.

Pardon my forgetfulness, of course the Belgians have a Great War RE8 as well. Being clever chaps, they had the good sense to try the Hispano-Suiza in both the RE8 and the BE2; reversing the crew positions in the latter in addition must have been particularly useful.
Pardon my ignorance too, regarding how I can send a pic or two to the Aerodrome. All advice will be gratefully received. I've got about 30 hi-res JPEG images (each typically 30X20 inches @ 75 dpi) totalling 80Mb. Eleven of them have been compressed into a 840K Zip file.
Cheers!
Simba.

In case the above link doesn't work for you, here is the drill:
1) Sign up to a free website or 'picture gallery' at somewhere like Yahoo or MSN.
2) Upload your pictures to that site.
3) View the picture on that site and copy the URL from the address bar.
4) Access the Aerodrome Forum and paste the URL between two 'picture tags' in the 'compose new message' box.
5) Hey presto. You now have a picture on the Aerodrome.
Of course if you have a lot of pictures to share it will be easier just to give forumites the root URL of your website / picture gallery.
Hope this helps,
Vig.
