Hi, I sent a response on the 9th but it went MIA. Ashfiled is a bomber pilot in 202, never in 65 Sqdn. The reference to 65 would be 65Wing. He was KIA 16th July 1916. See Above the War Fronts.

Cheers

Oooops,

Correct typos. Ashfield was KIA 1918, not 1916 > .

DFC Citation -

ASHFIELD, Lieutenant Lionel Arthur; (2 July 1918, Citation LG 3 August 1918):

A very capable officer of exceptional judgment and courage. He has carried out 62 flights behind the enemy lines with invariable success. During the last few months he has engaged 17 enemy machines, and has been instrumental in destroying five. On one occasion he attacked five enemy aeroplanes, bringing down one in flames.

Above The War Fronts gives victories on 18 and 31 May 1918; both Royal Navy Aircraft Serials.. and The DH4/DH9 File provide details of two more victories on 21 May.
