Hi,

As for a long time I am looking for scale models of the German seaplanes, such as the Albatros W4, Hansa Brandenburg W12 and W29, Friedrichshafen's, Gotha WD 12.
And the best I could find was a Dornier DO X from the Interbellum ! I bought it because Friedrich Christiansen, the ace flying W12 and W29's of HB, flew it round the world.

Can anyone tell me if I'm looking for something that doesn't exist ?

Thanks !

VBR from Johan

Greetings

I am sure many more knowledgeable than I will chip in here, but I know that in 1/72nd *pegasus models do both the Albatros W4 *and the hansa W29 as i have built both

Not sure if all the following are still available but are on my list, which is not very comprehensive

Eastern Express (Toko) do a W29 in 1/72nd and Flashback do one in 1/48th.

Valhalla does a W12 in 1/72nd.

Albatros W4 *also by Merlin and Roden, Roden to 2 versions all in 1/72nd.

The gotha WD12 I couldnt find, but I found a gotha W2 in 1/144 by Sram

The dornier Do X I found in Revell at 1/144

Hope some of this helps.

Howdy,

Actually you have quite a few choices.

The W.29 is the most popular. It has been kitted in 1/72 plastic by MPM, Toko/Eastern Express, Pegasus and Meikraft. I suspect you could fnd some older vacuforms too. In 1/48 it has been kitted by Flashback in plastic. Sierra Scale offers a great vacuform too

The W.4 has been kitted in 1/72plastic by Pegasus. It's currently on sale at Hannants I believe. Copper State Models also produces a 1/48 resin W.4.

The W.12 is kitted in 1/72 resin by Ludeman and Czechmaster. In 1/48 your options are Copper State's resin offering and Sierra Scale's vacuform kit.

Modelbud Choroszy makes a couple of resin Fredrichshaven's in 1/72. Sierra Scale makes one or two in vacform too.

The only Gotha WD I am aware of is Sierra Scale's 1/72 vac.

There are probably others, but I can't think of them now.

Here's a few links to help you look:

Good luck!

You guys are great ! Thank tou very much for that information. I think I will still order some of these models this week. I've been looking for them a long time, and Belgian modelshops can't help me out.

Thanks again !
