Albert Ball's monument in the grounds of Nottingham Castle is the largest in the UK,to an individual of such lowly military rank.No other V.C. winner, with one exception, has anything like it.
I was wondering if any of the WW1 Aces of Germany,America or France are commemorated in such a grand style.

Interesting indeed ...
Is anyone out there with photographs or websites concerning the above mentioned memorials? It would be interesting to compare them.

Hi! Guynemer has an monument in Poelcapelle near Ieper (Ypres) where he was shot down.It has a flying stork on top pointing in the direction Guynemer was flying before he was taken down.
I was in Ieper (Ypres) lately but I didn't know it was there until I saw it on an internet site Too bad I missed it.

there's a large statue of Frank Luke at the Arizona State Capitol in downtown Phoenix. Smack dab amid the most corrupt state government west of the muddy ol' Mississippi.

The realtors and developers own the legislature...and most of the city councils. In my town alone, the mayor's family acquired a square block of downtown real estate "for the public benefit" for $1.00--and turned it into part of the family auto business. Same thing happened with a large hotel development. Republican state senators have tried to shut down one of the 2 best shooting ranges in the metro area (it's 50 years old or more) so they could sell condos. Nothing came of the conflict of interest complaints: hardly anybody raised an eyebrow, it's so common anymore. And few of the corrupt officials bother to maintain the appearance of innocence--they've dropped the pretense.
