Hans Gustav Röhr, later with Jasta 22 and after WW1 inventor and founder of the car factory "Röhr-Werke", achieved his first a/v on May 6, 1916, flying a Pfalz E.III.
It is unknown which unit he belonged to and what (French?) opponent could have claimed by him.

Any hints?

Hi Mosen

I have the date for Offst Hans Röhrs frst victory as 30 April 1916.
In the morning he shot down a French Nieup.2s near Noyon(7 Army) within German hold lines.

The French was perhaps an a/c from Esc N 3 with the crew Rene Pellesier(P) KIA and Adj. Hattin(O) KIA...?

Röhr was attached to the newly KEK West at that time but his home unit was probably FFA 11....

He was promoted Lt dR on 24 May 1916 and become one of the original pilots of Jasta 12 when it was formed.

Could the 6 May be the date he received the Ehrenbecher..?

According to Norman Franks new book Sharks Among Minnows the v/c was indeed scored on 30Apr16. Röhr also got one on the 29th, but it fell into French lines (confirmed ?). The 30.4.16 v/c was over an Esc. N.3 crew of Cpl. Antoine Chassin, pilot, and Adj. Paul Hatin, obs., who are merely listed as MIA. Röhr belonged to Fokker Staffel West, according to Norman. So, this almost agrees with Gunnar's data. R.

Rick, Gunnar,

thanks for helping me along. I once more checked my data. According to the Tornuß notes Röhr indeed was with FFA 11.

It really seems that he received the Ehrenbecher on May 6, 1916. I found this date in his obituary notice.

On question remains:
In his personal notes Röhr refers to his "former observer" Leutnant Hans von Fichte. As I have no evidence v.Fichte ever was with FFA 11, at which unit were the both together?

Mosen,

Could Röhr have been von Fichte's pilot during 1918 in Schlasta 16? My data on Röhr ends in Sep 17 when he left Jasta 22s. R.

Interesting question Mosen..

O´Connor in volyme III mentioned a Lt Ludwig Fichte in FFA 26(March 1916).....the right Army and time but wrong first name and no von...!

If this is the same man(small chances) then Offst Röhr was positively NOT attached to KEK West, but rather to KEK Ost as temporary unit, because that this unit consisted of five pilots and Fokker/Pfalz from FFA 26 and FFA 29 around this time..

Sorry not much help and mostly wild guesses
:-/
