I am trying to find information on my father's stepfather. He was either a US pilot or observer during WW1. He was definitely a pilot after the war. I have tried Arpercen in St Louis but his file was destroyed in the 1970's fire. Any suggestions? Are any online rosters of US WW1 aviators? I do have his dates of service and service number from the Officers Digest but would like to find out what units he was in.
Sorry bout that! His name was John B. Holmberg. His service number was 4144. His dates of serve were from 15 Aug 1917-30 Oct 1922 when he was medically retired.

Thanks! That was Fast! That will be helpful as a friend will be going to the National Archives where we may be able to find Air Service Rosters. Gunnar, he was born in Minnesota although that is heavily populated by Swedes. Terry
