There are many unidentified graves in Commonwealth War Graves Cemeteries, and there are many cemeteries where graves are known to exist, but the location has been lost. And, of course, thousands of bodies that were never recovered from battlefield burials, and are sometimes located even now.
There are probably few unidentified RFC/RAF graves, but that would be the starting point. Next you would need to get the CWGC records for what personal effects (if any) were recovered by the graves registration party. Then, you might have a starting point for finding Rhys-Davis' grave.
Always assuming that it wasn't totally destroyed by shellfire.
