Which set did you use? By coincidence I saw something in the local hobby shop the other day that might help us all. I found Testors decal spray in a can. Seriously its a pliable coating you spray over decals that you make on an inkjet printer. It protects the ink from chipping especially on compound curves. Typical Testors spray can with Red, white and blue label. Usually I use a gloss coat of clear lacquer but this may be a new option for all sets even older decals?
