By this stage of the war, the RAF had large reserves of personnel and material so could make good losses fairly quickly - by 24 September it could still muster 1,000+ front-line aircraft.
It was the bomber squadrons, especially those of the
Independent Force, that were particularly heavily hit with 56 DH4s, 91 DH9/9As and 14 Handley Pages being lost.
Morale seemed mostly OK except amongst those units detailed for ground strafing, circumstances where skill as a pilot was of little value.
