Actually the picture of the landing gear posted is just a test piece. I don't like the way it's lining up and the welds aren't my best either (It's been a while since I welded). so I will buy more metal and try again.
I noticed on your post that there was a line drawn on the top of the axle box to note how far the streamlined tubing was allowed to overlap on the box. The drawing in WW1 Aero #168, page 102, shows the tubing overlapping at 20mm on the front & 17.5mm on the back.
The Replicraft drawings show the widest part of the streamlined tube lining up at 46mm below the top of the axle box.

As this piece may have to take quite a load on landings ... I am interested in what you think is the most accurate?
P.S. I like the Cobra too ... It was my favorite!
