Herr E, can you confirm that it was the Herr Doktors unfortunate skin condition which gave rise to the term "scratch building"?

Karl Otto;
No, that was something he caught from Madame Dymphnova while in the Ukraine in 1919 when he visited Nestor Makhno.
He used a cream for that condition otherwise the flaky bits used to gum up his seams.
In 1939 he renounced nude modeling upon hearing that Lavrenty Beria was practising the art. His skin condition cleared up shortly afterwards. Alas however he never won an IPMS Bognor Grand Champion Award from that time onwards.
The Good Herr Doktor always asserted that the renowned fifth columnist and mistress of disguise Dymphna could always be identified by the strange rash she had shaped like a map of Tasmania. Doktor Von Humbrol believed that this rash was the source of his affliction.
It may be possible that this is where the term "scratch-building" came from, however the Good Herr Doktor shared his shameful secret with only a few trusted friends; Professor Count Guido Italeri, and Patrick "The Megaphone" O'Belcher being primary amongst these. Of course Dymphna, always on the lookout to sully The Good Herr Doktor's name, may have been responsible.......
