Edward Mannock's score

Why do all modern victory tallies credit Mannock with only having scored 61 victories, when he was actually credited with 73 during WW1, if it is the case that not all of his victories were confirmed then Manfred von Richthofen should only be credited with at the most 79 kills, my verification for this is the books "under the guns of the red baron" and "flying fury" which back up the fact that one of his DH2 victories in 1916 was flown by James McCudden who was killed on the 9th July 1918 having amassed 57 kills.

Could someone, perhaps a forum administrator shed some light on this for me as all the other top 10 aces you have listed are correct.

Thanks
