OK; Jest aside.

I thought some of you might be interested in seeing how we did the ribs of the Fokker D.VII stabilizer.

To ensure symetry and equal lenght of all of the pieces we have done some special tools on which we then constructed the ribs so that these become pre-manufactured items.

I do not think I have to explain a lot since the images are self explanatory.

Premanufacturing the ribs is essential since otherwise the overal dimension of the stabilizer would not keep the intented dimensions. This is especially the case when welding oxyacethylene. The material simply shrinks during welding. The problem could also be resolved by using TIG what reduces the size of the area exposed to to the heat.

The solution above can easily be replicated by anybody. However wouldn´t that form a nice kit, too? All tubes in metric dimensions, cut to size and pre-manufactured ribs? Any interest? *;D
