Nieuport 27 or 24bis

Hi Chuck Hill and Jim D,

Welcome to both of you to the Aerodrome.

Thank you Chuck for sharing the great site and fotos.

The two planes in question look like Nieuport 27 or 24 bis, as Jim D pointed out, The Nieuport 28's ailerons were on the lower wing only. These two machines both have the sesquiplane wing layout, the 28's upper and lower wings had about the same surface area.

From my experience, the only American planes with outlandish or personal markings, except Raoul Lufbery's "Hakenkreuse", were on training aircraft or were after the Armistice.

Very Best Regards, FOKKERJ
