Take into account the times of the day
Some 18 year old males can look very feminine. Teenagers today seem to develop earlier than in WWI, likely from the changes in nutrition. I read that by today's standards, that the majority of people living in the 1920s would be considered malnourished.
There have been stories of woman disguised as men fighting as soldiers during the Civil War to be near their loved ones. But its unlikely that a woman could stay in disguise during flight training. Though if it did happen it would make for an incredible story.
