Harvey Dunn--1884-1952 American artist & illustrator. In 1917, although 33 years old, he was chosen as one of 8 artists to work at the Front as combat illustrators/reporters. He produced many powerful moving works documenting the horrors of war. He had hoped to be able to transfer to canvas many of his battfield sketches working at the War College but he was demobilized after the war and this project was not realized. Today, his works can be viewed at the Smithsonian Museum of American History and the South Dakota Art Museum in Brookings, South Dakota, USA.
