Mess Halls
It there was space, I'm sure that many on both sides had an upright, or a player piano. In the allied halls photos of Gen. Pershing and Pres. Wilson were de regeur. I wouldn't be surprised if all allied mess halls had photos of all the allied leaders and royals as well. Pointcaire, Prince Albert, Lloyd George, etc.
My Grandmother had a rather fabulous poster which my Mom inherited. It might be around 1' 1/2' feet by 6' long. It has a photo of Wilson on one side, and Pershing on the other. In between there is a panoramic photograph of Point Loma, and San Diego Harbor, with Coronado Island, and the naval base in the background. It's rather amazing that after all these years many of the buildings are still present, and the topography is still discernible. I am sure copies of that particular poster adorned many a mess hall in the San Diego area. Copies of it might have even made it to Europe to adorn the walls of those from the San Diego area as well. As I said, the panorama photo is pretty impressive. Jenny
