Dull , uneven????
Doug Baumann:
What your statement tells me, you have never seen actual fabric. The color are strong, brillant and evenly printed.
The process of printing the fabric is not staged, it is done at one time. The are either 4 or 5 metal rollers, one for each color, synchronized together to print slightly over lapping patterns, approximately 3 to 5 mm. The roller have a printing surface 1400m wide. The cloth is either 1300 mm wide (4 color) or 1340mm wide (5 color) The linen fabric after the finishing processes are done and the fabric has been dried goes the printing process followed by a drying proces and then is put up in manufactures rolls, about 500 to 600 meters long. This is later rerolled in to shipping rolls of around 100 meters long. In this process the fabric is inspected for defects which are marked at the edges with tuffs of colored yarn. This is what the aircraft manufacturers get.
