Just received my copy of "the Red Baron" DVD in German and watched it last night. IMHO the movie was not bad at all, infact it was pretty good.
Good points: lots of different German aircraft and different colors, not all red as in "Flyboys" and when they did have a dogfight scene, looked very good espically the near misses and the fly through's, observational point of view from above, they even got the cigarette pack color correct- for once, close ups of the a/c on the ground, and in the air, etc.
Other points that could have been looked at by others: MvR would never leave his rifle behind when hunting - no matter what, even at a tender age; They seemed to want to compress his lifetime with little snippits of this and those moments - jumping from one airfield to another to another; the romance could have been a whole loooooot sssshhhhhoooorrrrtttteeerrrrr; no real ending except to fade to black with MvR in the cockpit of his A/C looking at the girl; Voss' Albatros not even close except for the hearts and not even those were correct, Nothing on Wolff or Voss' demise other than a remark that they are gone; shooting down a balloon with a flare gun???? Don't know about that one.
The minor errors that you pick out, but overall would watch it again, and again .... and again.
The deleted/edited parts of the movie are all in English. I think there were about 6.
Anyhoo - good for the collection.
