I have a card model of a Be2f that I'm going to convert to represent Leefe Robinson's BE2c, and I had the following thoughts on wings.

I plan to do the ribs and spars in basswood, according to the datafile plans.

Then I plan to cover them with transluscent card stock, which is available at art/craft stores.

Because of my project, I have scanned the card model pages at high resolution and am re-working the wings to be BE2c type, and colouring the rest to suit the subject.

I'll then remove all colour from the wings, basically making them outlines and print them onto the translucent card.

Then I'll assemble the wings as per instructions.

Then I'll build up layers of CDL/PC10 paint on the surfaces with acryllics thinned with future. This acts as a thinner, but also adds a translucent quality to the paint. I'll keep building up layers and holding it to the light till I'm happy, or so distraught that I give up!
