Carburettor intake pipes

Hi Hans,

The carburettor intake pipes were bound with asbestos rope. Many or most of the aero engines I have seen also have what looks like pressed steel sheet plates fitted to the top half of the pipes, which presumably keep any heat within the pipes, and stop the heat from rising and escaping.

Cheers,

David.
