"A" Flight used white letters between cockade and squadron marking using A,B,C,D,E,F.
There is no mention of the letter being repeated on the top wing.

Mannock on joining 85 squadron would have had the letter repeated on the upper starboard wing.

Looks like you have nothing to worry about.
