Regardless of his efforts i suppose he was already in WW1 a selfish, ignorant, unpleasant character and a megalomaniac. The possibility of having nearly absolute power during the 3rd reich made this even worse.
But on the other hand it's still strange how people could do such atrocities. Rudolf Hess for example just saw the millions of jews as 'work' he has to handle with.
I guess the truth behind such characters is far beyond our imagination and maybe thats good for a reason.
