You are right Reinout, wings always coming off isn't realistic, but neither is flying 100 different plane types during a campaign! It's all what one is willing to accept, I guess.
I don't believe I specifically said I flew 100 different planes, but I could have made it more obvious what I meant: WFP allows for 100 different planes in the sim, but these are not all flyable and are of course divided between Entente and German aircraft. The beauty of the system was that when you start flying Eindeckers in August 1915, you would find lumbering enemy Voisins, Farmans and Caudrons on your turf. As the war progresses, these old aircraft are replaced by better types, like the Nieuport 10, DH2 etc. This continues into 1918, allowing for more different types of plane to be encountered and flown. You can fly certain rare types like the Pfalz E.I, the Fokker D.II, the Bristol Scout and the Sopwith Dolphin. They even included the ability to fly multi-seaters, though I never tried that. Anyway, you could feel the air war progressing, which is something RoF cannot give me at the moment. Perhaps it will get better in a few years' time - but not now. OFF is probably a decent investment for me because the only alternative is to relive the nightmare of installing a heavily patched and shaky RB3D on XP or Vista machines... You'd have to be a computer wizard to get it running consistently and without it breaking down after a few missions - I'm not into that kind of wizardry I'm afraid.

But your points on other ways of shooting down an opponent in RoF are well taken of course.

Kind regards,

Reinout
