Corrosion avoidance

In the original drawings , the "baffle " is given as being made of Duralumin....However , due to severe corrosion problems that arose on the FE8 elevators in service ,( which had similar dissimilar metals jointing ) ,and which in actual fact might also have caused problems with the FE2b main tank in leaking around the baffle rivets ,......I have avoided this potential problem and / or second guessed the "fix " , by making the baffle out of the same tinned mild steel as the tank shell and essued the use of Dural ' for this part....The added advantage is a better sealed joint , particularly around the rivets and complete joining of the bafflle to the shell of the tank , thereby increasing its stiffness under fuel / preasure loads .....JM
