Just as I said MvR didn't use any kind of Symbol what your taking about is a personal marking. Now if that black 'n white ring on the nose shows up on there planes then I would have to say it was unit markings, as I know he didn't use anything kind of symbol like a crest or some kind of artwork that was repeated on any of his machines.
