I did get a reply from support yesterday and then simply re-tried registering. The day I got the game, whatever server they have that sends out confirmation e-mails must have been down because I got the confirmation yesterday about 30 seconds after I registered. I have not had any problem logging into the game or running it since.
Although they seem to have fixed most of their server connection problems, I'm still concerned about having to connect to their server. Many of the best flight sims are still played a decade after they are released, but with a server connection required, Rise Of Flight can only be played so long as neoqb stays in business and keeps their server running. In a way that makes me leery of buying more planes from them. I can still fly the planes I bought for Combat Flight Simulator 3 anytime I want even though Microsoft has long ago ended ongoing support for the game. With Rise of Flight, I just don't know how the future of the game will go.
I realize I'm worrying about things that are years down the line, but I do see potential in this game and in years down the line, it might be a top notch game. As has been mentioned, the campaigns seem a bit sparse, but the flight models feel very realistic (although never having flown a bi-plane I can't say for sure if the models are correct.) The graphics are gorgeous. Anyone that really wants to know what it was like to actually fly one of the aircraft available should give this game a try.
I've been flying with the engine controls set on auto. I can easily see how many pilots got shot down without ever seeing their enemy, just keeping the engine happy is almost a full time job. So far my favorite aircraft is the Albatros. The forward visibility in the plane is excellent and I've found a way to whip the plane around in a 360 so fast that the sight on my wide screen monitor actually makes me a bit dizzy. I lose altitude in the manuver though and the aircraft is not much of a climber but such limitations are what makes flying these aircraft so interesting.
Does anyone know if the Albatros's wing spar problems are modeled in the game? I'm a bit hesitant to do any steep dives in the aircraft. I have to keep in mind that it's just a game and it's ok for me to see if the plane will come apart!
So for anyone whose primary concern is the flight model and detail of the plane, Rise of Flight is worth looking into. In time perhaps there will be more content in terms of the campaign, but that area still seems a bit underdeveloped for now.
