By the way, there was a General Wilhelm Graf von Gluszewski-Kwilecki (born 1867, died 1954) in the 5. Infanteriedivision (1), who was awarded the P le M on 24.11.1917. Does anyone know the nature of the relationship between Wilhelm and Heinz? Possibly father and son (I'm speculating here, nothing more)?

Greg
Hello Greg,

Heinz father wasn't promoted to the rank of Generalmajor before August 1939. He got a "Charakterisierung" as Generalmajor, some sort of honor-title, on the occasion of the 25 anniversary of the battle of Tannenberg. In 1917, when he was awarded the PlM, he was OTL (lieutenant colonel) and CO of Kgl. Preuß. Leib-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 8.
