On page 33 of Mr. VanWyngarden's "Albatros Aces of WWI-Part 2" there is a picture of an Albatross DIII flown by

Julius Buckler. According to the caption, this DIII was named "Mops", as were all of Buckler's planes-except for a reserve plane that, "his growing success garnered him". The reserve plane was named "Lily". On pg 58 there is a color plate a Buckler's DV "Mops". The unit is Jasta 17; appears to be mostly natural wood finish, black tail, with a broad red band aft of the cockpit. There is a blue field in the band with "Mops" in white. Wouldn't have taken much for the painters to do the same for "Lily"?
