Wausau Downtown Airport has free movie night that starts the first Tuesday of October and runs through March or April (depending on when the liht gets enough to fly after 6 PM and the snow recedes enough to get off the ground...but I digress). Sid showed the movie this week, and I dropped in to see it.
I was one of those that thought I would "never lower myself to see such drivel", but after seeing it, while all the complaints above are true, there was a quality to it that made it worthwhile. Not great, but entertaining. I wanted it to be the "Chronicles of Narnia" or ""Spiderman" of WW-1, but it wasn't. SO what? Did I see some great paint schemes? yeppers. Did I see Lothar transition from an idolizer of his brother to a typically overly impassioned idealistic pilot to a realist with his beloved cousin (all apparently true)? Absolutely. And I have not seen that kind of subtlety of development in any other movie.
I had to look hard, but the look was worth it. Do I want better? Oh, yeah. But do we really expect clear insight and realism from the segment of our various societies that are the least connected with living in reality? So, GO! Enjoy! Then go fly a real plane to cleanse yourself in the real skies.
