Hey Ron, are you referring to the Kaiserliche Werft Kiel and Wilhelmshaven?
I know there are some questions about the desigantions but these "CHFT" and "CFT" codes were assigned by the navy and defined the purpose and it's equipment. The first letter was kind of a class designation, similar to that used with the army.
B-bomber, C-armed two-seater, E-single seater (Einsitzer)...
FT- (Funktelegraph) meant a radio equipment was fittet
HFT- radio equipment with receiver
Were they given beforehand by the Werft?
