I collect American Illustration art (own a Blakeslee Dare devil Aces cover from that later period in which he was melding WW1 and 1930's ariplanes)
I toda picked up an interior painting by FC Yohn from proabbly a magazine- title on the Back Airshipman it shows a Sopwith (I think) dueling with a Zep. no date - there is a caption on it - I have atatched a scan. This looks like his work from the late teens - 1920's or maybe earl y30's- He died i n1933
When I get art I like to read the article or story it is associated with. it is often harder to ID the art and find the story than it is to get the art.
I think it might be from a Thomson Burtis serial in American Boy as Yoh ndid some work for them but the art is violent people shooting out of the gondola at the plane so I am not sure if that firs or not (though lord knows the Carl H Claudy SCi-fi books for boys I read secondhand as a child were pretty grisly at times!)
Thanks a lot George hagenauer - yellowkd@terracom.net
Mate,
Welcome to the flagship of the Aerodrome - where the greatest minds on the planet get together and talk about their favorite subject - WW1.
