We were planning to test the oil pump today, but after getting to where we could turn it, we found that the oil pump cam rubs on the aluminum housing. The picture below shows that. (It also shows that we need to do a lot more cleaning!)

Craig is taking it home to fix that problem.

We installed the lightest of the oil pump springs and it felt okay. We'll see if it's sufficient or not. When it's running, the oil will dampen the system and we'll be getting closer to its natural frequency, so the run test will determine if we need to increase the spring's stiffness.

André Jans sent me some photos of their magneto installation and it looks first rate. I have a Bendix S6RN-25 magneto that's a spare for my Cessna, and it turns the right way and might be adaptable. We would like to try the original magneto first, though.

André's engine has the automatic intake valves, and mine has intake valves driven by the cam and rockers. Most of the rest of the engine looks quite similar except for the front crankcase. Mine is the dome style.
