G'day Brad,
I have found some more photos. I haven't gone to too much trouble to find some photographs, because it is very time consuming, but here are some more from my PC10 etc thread. The first two are original colour photographs taken by Frank Hurley during WW1, and are of AFC Bristol Fighters. The roundel blue is not particularly easy to see, although you can see the rudder flash of one of the Bristol Fighters in the second photo. The third photograph is of the Vintage Aviator's SE5a (actually as I am posting this reply the photographs have not appeared strictly in order but it is obvious which are the photographs taken by Frank Hurley and which is of TVAL's SE5a). It has been mentioned on this site several times that they own an impressive collection of WW1 aeroplane fabric samples, which naturally they would use for reference in the construction of their replicas, as well as having immense value as historical items. TVAL is a truly professional organisation, and I sincerely believe their research and development is amongst the very best in the world, if not the best. Whilst their aeroplanes are replicas, the colours they have used concur with the results of my research. Both results have been achieved completely independently of each other. I did not even know that TVAL were building historically accurate replica WW1 aeroplanes until I saw reference to their work here on The Aerodrome.
Regards,
David.
