It belonged to a flight of 60 Sqdn. RFC which was engaged on 14 Apr 1917 near Gavrelle. The unlucky pilot was 2Lt. Lewis Carlton Chapmann, who died of his wounds two days later received by Vfw. Sebastian Festner, Jasta 11, who claimed Chapman's Nieuport for his 11. victory.
60. Sqdn. RFC lost another three Nieuports in this fight to LvR, MvR and Kurt Wolff.
