I believe, he had a specific area in mind. If you look at a map of France, in the Cambrai region, you'll see that the villages of Estourmel, Esnes, Awoingt and Boistrancourt are within a short distance of one another.
I believe the furthest away is Esnes, being 50+ km South of Estourmel. The other three are closer together, with Estourmel being in the middle.
