Sorry I can't think of the city where this took place... an armed, would-be criminal decides to hold up a gun shop. Yes, I said a gun shop. With an off-duty officer shopping inside. Yes, I said an armed, off-duty officer inside. Along with about half a dozen legally armed, law abiding citizens.

The criminal in question pulled out his weapon and announced his sinister intent. Roughly 6 citizens, the off-duty officer, and the store's clerk all pulled out legally owned private handguns and responded accordingly. When they pulled the bullets out of his corpse, they found that only the clerk and the officer had fired... by that time everyone else considered it redundant. This is not the preferred method of dealing with crime, but when lives are on the line, private weapons are indeed a quite effective means of personal defense...

Justice hath been served.
