A quote from the Cincinnati Enquirer week of 31 Aug 1999:

"The Justice Department's new plan called the Cyberspace Electronic Security Act (CESA) would let officials get sealed warrants to break into American's homes and-get this-tamper with their personal computers, disabling security software so they could then track whatever people do with their PCs. It would let them cripple software that encrypts, or scrambles, data.

The plan would be considered an extension of the right to plant "bugs" (hidden listening devices) in homes, but it goes far beyond eavesdropping.

Libertarian National Director Steve Dasbach calls it "a legal burglary tool"-and he's right."

Forewarned is forearmed.
