Here's where two of the Liberty engines went;

Alexander Graham Bell and Casey Baldwin began experimenting with hydrofoil boats in 1908. After the war ended they were able to get two 350 hp Libertys from the US Navy to power their test boat. Baldwin set a world speed record of 70+ mph with this machine.

Gee, and only $25,000 too. Wonder why no ones bid on it yet.

Has 5 other engines for sale too. Each equally as rare. Like the RARE VINTAGE RANGER 6 CYLINDER AIRCRAFT ENGINE. I will admit though I have never heard of the "Very Rare opposed 12 cylinder FRANKLIN Aircraft engine". Thought it was a 6 cylinder laying on its side at first.

No ones placed a bid on ANY of these engines.

A large number of 6 cyl. Ranger engines used to stand on towers in the local vinyards where they were used to circulate air to prevent frost harming the crops in the spring. Some of them still had the original PT-19 cowls on them.

The 12 cylinder Franklin was developed during WW2 as a special use engine for some airplane that never made it to production. I believe 6 cyl. Franklins were used in Stinson observation planes in WW2.

To further derail this thread I remember walking along a line of Cubs at Oshkosh and seeing one powered by a 3 cyl. radial, the Lenape Papoose.
