Hi all,

I have been looking at this photo and it has a number of interesting features.

1. The Jasta nose markings is still in the early just green form without the white slash reportedly introduced later by Buchner. If this is so, is this the only photo I know of a Buchner Fokker without this white slash.

2. There apears to be an earlier personal markings of a coloured band under the blue Fusalage, this now mostly hidden by the green and white band of Buchner.

3. There appears to be a bullet hole and repair to the fabric just behind Nekel. A close shave!

Any comments welcome.

your stu

I think another interesting observation is that either the photo is 'posed' or else Neckel scored at least one victory while flying Büchner's D.VII. R.

Hi all,

A couple of quick observations on the D.VII.

1. It is an early Fokker built D.VII from the 300 series of serial numbers as indicated by the white serial number showing thru the overpainting of the fuselage.

2. Interesting gun sights having a central fitted sight between the guns and out on the motor.

Best,
Dave W.

Just put up a closer shot of the photo: Flugplatz in Mesnil 1918 (Airport in Mesnil) in the Forum section @:

Hope you can identify them now.
