Stu,

Within your list, both Hertzsche and Laabs were killed. Thus we can also employ the Zickerick listing in von Eberhardt.

Hertzsche born in Lembach
Laabs born in Woedtke

Not much help, unless one of these lcoations is a suburb of Berlin. R.

Hi,

Woedtke ( today Otok) was a small village in Pommerania/Prussia near Greifswald. It belongs today to Poland.

Lembach is located in Baden-Württemberg. Neither Woedtke nor Lembach has a standing bear in its coat of arm.

BTW, Berlin isn't the only german city who used a bear as "Wappentier", so the search must go on...

Hi Guys,

Just had a idea maybe its not the pilots home town, but could it possible be the plane of Ltn Neckel as he was fond of his bear mascot which he took with him from Jasta to Jasta.
In the first image it is present in the center of his 20th victory garland and in the second when he was leader of Jasta 6.

Factoid: the teddy bear was first popularized in 1902.
