Hi
I would like to find out what the letters were on the side of the famous 'dragon' marked macchi M.5 pictured on the cover of the Datafile. Can anyone help? Robert Johnston's artwork below noted some gaps. Does anyone know what the letters meant?
Cheers
James

Do you think about this one?

Source for this profile is the artwork-CD-Rom of Mr. Pearson.

Hope this helps...

Dear jamo,
The Macchi belonged to Tenente di Vascello Domenico "Pepuzzo" Arcidiacono of Royal Italian Navy Squadron 261, based in Venice during 1918. The words came from a nonsense song of Ettore Petrolini, a famous Roman showman of that age. During his precedente duty in a Macchi L.3 squadron, the plane of Arcidiacono bore the same words and the picture of a funny smiling man.
I wish you and all the friends of the forum an happy and aeronautical New Year.
Paolo
