Its been years since I saw the original King Kong but what type of planes were those attacking Kong when he was up on top of the Empire State Building? *They look like Curtiss Jennies. See image: *http://www2.netdoor.com/~campbab/kong/kong.jpg

I believe they were a mix of Curtiss Hawks (don't remember if they were Army or Navy) and Vought Corsairs (VE-7, not F4U).

I think they were the Vought 02U-2. If I remember correctly they had radial engines and the top wings were swept.

Were those the fighter planes in service during that period? I would like to see images of those planes if anyone knows where there are some.
