The Alaska Airmen's Association is commissioning a full sized scupture of a man carrying a propeller for a Standard J-1 aircraft using a Hisso engine. A photo or accurate drawing (even better an actual propeller that could be copied) is desperately needed to get it right.

It will be displayed in downtown Anchorage where an airstrip was once located, and where the first aircraft to fly from there was a Standard J-1.

If ANYONE has any information that would help in that project, please post here or contact me by email.

Thanks for any help.

Recently a J-1 Standard "Hisso" propeller sold on eBay, but I don't have the information on it anymore. Maybe someone else does?

The J-1 Standard ALSO had OX-5 engines installed with the "PARAGON" propeller!

Regards, Gary

PS- I have THREE OX-5 "PARAGON" props that were typically used on the JN-4C (Canadian Jenny) if of any help. Several pics are on the Internet of these props. Here is one taken of one of my props:

Thanks, Gary.

I can't find much about the Standard J1 using a Hisso engine, as I thought the main engine the J1 used was a Hall Scott A7A, which is the one that I believe sold on eBay a while back (prop, that is).

That Jenny prop looks familiar.

Hey! No wonder, it's one of mine posted on my website.
(I've got three or four of that model, too. Seems like a lot of them ended up as surplus.)

Dave,

I have several old pictures of "Hisso" J-1 Standards. My first flight instructor was the famous Bud Gurney, who was Barnstorming partners with Charles Lindberg. I have several pics of their early days together as young Barnstormers as well as when they filmed the movie "THE SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS."

I'm always on the lookout for a Fokker propeller like the D.VII AXIAL prop on your web, so if you find one available I would appreciate knowing!

Regards, Gary

Gary, I'm always on the lookout for German (and other props). There may be some coming up for sale in the near future, and if so I'll post the link on this site when I know.

Might we borrow an image of a Hisso prop from you? I've pm'd you about this.
