I have spent some time at the National Archives in Fort Worth, Texas gathering information mainly on aviation mishaps at Carruthers Field.
Many of the mishap reports quote the following as an example:
Ship No. 24
Motor No 44998 Prop No. Star Prop
Type: Curtis O.X.5
My question is: the ship numbers aren't matching up with some other research sites on the web (e.g. Joe Baugher's website) and the book Curtiss Aircraft 1907-1947 by Bowers says that some of the Royal Flying Corps - Canada aircraft were left behind/transferred to the USAAS when the RFC left Texas and returned to Canada in 1918. Is there a source that would either give me which planes were left behind or transferred into U.S. service?
Would the above example be a Canuck or an American-built JN4 or some other type?
Thanks,
Bob Carter
